5-Minute Trainer Video Library
Take five minutes to learn valuable care and training tips from our experts at the Red Barn Event Centre!
Shaping the Sit
In this video, Danielle LeVangie uses positive reinforcement to shape a young puppy's understanding of the "sit" behaviour.
Shaping the Down
In this video, Danielle LeVangie shapes the "down" behaviour using positive reinforcement, luring this puppy into position and rewarding the correct response.
"It's Your Choice"
Teaching a young puppy to take responsibility for making their own choices is one of the most important lessons they can learn. The "It's Your Choice" game is the foundation exercise that teaches the puppy that the only way to receive a desirable cookie is to make the decision to wait until given permission to eat it.
The "Reward Zone" is the area immediately beside you in which you would like your puppy to walk while on a leash. Take a peek at this video as Danielle LeVangie teaches a young puppy the first lesson in identifying the Reward Zone.
Making Collar Touches Fun!
We need to take our dog's collars for so many reasons throughout their lives -- whether to clip on a leash, or hold onto them in a gentle manner. Teaching your puppy to associate the "collar grab" with delicious cookies and plenty of praise is an important life lesson!
Join animal chiropractor Dr. Susan Shaw as she explains how your dog or cat may benefit from regular treatments, particularly if they are involved in competitive sporting events, are senior-aged, or are recovering from injury.
2x2 Weave Poles
Join Billie McLean for an introduction to the weave poles, an agility obstacle that combines accuracy in the dog's patterned footwork with speed through one of the most difficult obstacles on course.
Scent Detection Intro
Got nose? We all know our dog's noses are far more sensitive than our own. Scent Detection classes channel your dog's sense of smell in a popular sport that is the fun and competitive version of police detection dog training. In this video, join Karen as she trains the first step of the dog's indication on an odour source using a coin in place of the odour box.
